Law for Non-profits

Legal resources available to non-profits tend to be piecemeal and rarely proactive or strategic, and most organizations are unable to access legal support in an effective way without concern about cost. LFNP was founded to address these challenges and enable British Columbia's non-profit sector to access better legal information, education and advice. Law for Non-Profits resources include Ask a Law Student, our Legal Lunch & Learn Webinar Series and more.

show your support

Did you know that PLEO is a charity? Please consider showing your support for free legal services, education, and outreach for low income artists and nonprofits across British Columbia.

Your contribution will ensure the continued growth of our legal outreach clinics to better serve rural and remote communities, and racialised, indigenous, and historically marginalised groups.

IMPACT

"PLEO is a vital program for non-profits across BC. The small non-profits we work with (we have 590 members across 48 communities in BC), their Boards and senior staff, struggle with complex legal issues related to charitable status, employment law, the Societies Act, and many other issues and function with very limited budget. This has been exacerbated by COVID. PLEO offers free and low cost help and advice that can help solve issues before they disrupt the important work these organizations do." - Alison Brewin, Vantage Point

The Pacific Legal Education and Outreach Society (PLEO) seeks to ensure that arts, culture, and social service non-profits and low-income artists are informed about and empowered to exercise their legal rights and responsibilities under the provincial and federal acts and regulations which govern their activities.
